New Morning

New Morning

I set my camera down this winter and took a little break from
the photo journal.  Then, a few weeks ago, a friend sent me a
poem which sparked my imagination and it has felt great to get
back in the swing of things.

One of the joys of spring is watching the flowering trees bloom,
and lately I’ve been paying more attention to some of the less
obvious flowers that emerge this time of year.

For example, the sugar maples in our neighborhood have their
light green flowers hanging down, with tiny leaves unfurling
from the stems.  This bunch belongs to a tree down the street
that I encountered while walking the dog.

When the Blue Hour Comes

When the Blue Hour Comes

Melting snow's fog settling in at dusk.
Next to the old cemetery,
a soybean field with a tree at its center.

The Dance

The Dance

What a great week. I sent out my “announcement” and was warmed by
a slew of encouraging emails from friends and family across the country.
Thank you!

One of those notes was from my friend Lauri, who sent me a photo in return,
a wonderful close-up of a juniper branch and berries that she had taken last
week. Lauri’s photo had a vital, joyful quality that raised my spirits.

I kept that in mind this evening as I took the dog for a walk. When the light
began to fade, I looked over my shoulder and noticed this oak and cloud
dancing across the sky.
